WHAT SHOULD I BE EATING IN THE Fall?

Happy Fall Everyone!

In Chinese Medicine, the Fall is the season of the Lungs and Large Intestine. So this is a great time to eat foods to nourish and support these organs! The color associated with these organs is white and the flavor is spicy, so a general principle is to incorporate more white foods as well as slightly spicy foods to your diet in the fall.

White Foods: potatoes, cauliflowers, turnips, onions, garlic, scallions, parsnips, white corn, kohlrabi, and mushrooms. These foods will help to support the energy of the lungs in preparation for the winter months to come. They will also help to protect the immune system from the change of season.

The Fall season is a very drying time, therefore we want to make sure to moisten the lungs. Having pears and persimmons, which are also in season during the fall is natures perfect solution.
